New Delhi, March 10 (NationPress) Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has vehemently condemned the BJP following the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid at Bhupesh Baghel's home, asserting that the party will struggle to establish itself in Punjab due to its historical opposition to the state's residents.
In an interview with IANS, Randhawa stated, "The reception extended to Bhupesh Baghel in Punjab is significant, and the current state of the BJP in Punjab is well-known. The BJP will never secure a foothold in Punjab because they have consistently worked against the interests of the state's people. Although there was a shift when Bhupesh Baghel took charge, we remain unperturbed. They can attempt whatever they wish; we will persist with our efforts."
Randhawa also addressed recent statements made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding certain individuals within the party who are allegedly collaborating with the BJP.
The former party President claimed that some Congress members have affiliations with the BJP, to which Randhawa concurred, affirming, "There is validity in what Rahul Gandhi has articulated. We should have been more vigilant about this earlier. Those within Congress ought to refrain from speaking out against the party. Individuals transitioning from other parties should not be assigned leadership roles."
He highlighted that this predicament has inflicted considerable harm in Punjab and noted that the party could have navigated the situation more effectively. He added, "Had we addressed this sooner, we might have mitigated the damage experienced in Punjab."
Randhawa also expressed his support for Congress leader Digvijaya Singh’s remarks concerning the expulsion of BJP supporters within Congress. Singh had questioned when Congress would take action against such members.
Randhawa commented, "Digvijaya Ji is correct in his assessment. Anyone transitioning from another party should not be granted significant positions immediately. They only recruit individuals when they depart."
In addition, Randhawa conveyed his pride in the Indian cricket team’s ICC Champions Trophy victory, deeming it a moment of national pride.
He remarked, "We are all immensely proud of the Indian cricket team. After a 12-year wait, they made history by clinching the World Cup. Just before Holi, it felt like Diwali for the entire nation."
Randhawa also commended Captain Rohit Sharma’s leadership, stating, "Rohit Sharma performed brilliantly and led the team to victory. Despite speculations about his retirement, he has affirmed that he intends to play for many more years. We wish him every success."
