Chandigarh, Aug 1 (NationPress) Congress Member of Parliament and former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, recently claimed that the incarcerated gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuriya has threatened to take the life of his son.
While currently in Delhi for the Parliament session, Randhawa noted that his son was shot at shortly after this threat was made in Punjab.
In a post on his X account, he stated, “One of my associates met my son and within one hour of leaving, he came under gunfire today.”
The Congress leader, attending the ongoing Parliament session in Delhi, emphasized that he will not be cowed down.
“No gangster can intimidate me,” Randhawa asserted, criticizing the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
In his message, he tagged Chief Minister Mann and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, accusing them of transforming Punjab into a “safe haven for gangsters” where law and order has entirely disintegrated.
Randhawa has previously criticized Captain Amarinder Singh for his management of sensitive cases related to sacrilege and police shootings when he was Chief Minister, resulting in the home and vigilance departments being overseen by Charanjit Singh Channi.
Bhagwanpuriya is known as one of Punjab's most feared gangsters. Last month, his mother, Harjeet Kaur, was killed in a brazen gang conflict in Batala, Gurdaspur district.
The rival gang, led by Davinder Bambiha, took responsibility after two motorcycle riders shot at Harjeet Kaur and Karanvir Singh from close proximity outside their residence.
Bhagwanpuriya, a suspect in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, is currently held under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotics Drugs Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act.
He was transferred from Punjab's Central Jail in Bathinda to a facility in Silchar, Assam, in March. Since his arrest in a murder case in 2015, he has been incarcerated in various jails across the state.
