BJP Calls Out CM Mann's Leadership After Punjab Officer's Suicide
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, March 21 (NationPress) President of the Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunil Jakhar expressed deep regret over the tragic suicide of Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, the District Manager of the Punjab State Warehouse Corporation in Amritsar. He stated that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has lost any moral justification to hold his position.
In a media briefing, Jakhar emphasized that the BJP is committed to pursuing justice for Randhawa's family.
He pointed out that previously, the people of Punjab suffered due to extortion and violence from gangsters, and now even government officials are reportedly driven to suicide by the alleged pressures exerted by ministers.
Following the suicide case of Randhawa, Punjab Transport and Jails Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar was called upon to resign by Chief Minister Mann.
Jakhar characterized this incident as a “daylight murder” of a government official and demanded that a case be filed against Minister Bhullar, insisting on his arrest.
He also questioned the Chief Minister's decision to assign the investigation to State Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha, expressing skepticism about the Chief Secretary's experience in handling murder cases.
The Chief Secretary was directed to investigate allegations of harassment and contractual disputes involving Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Bhullar, who represents the Patti Assembly constituency.
Jakhar stated that this occurrence unravels the truth behind the state government’s claims of “strict honesty.”
He remarked that the Cabinet appears more like a “gang of Ministers.”
Jakhar noted that the past incidents involving Ministers Vijay Singla, Fauja Singh Sarari, and now Laljit Singh Bhullar reveal the real character of the AAP-led Punjab government.
Furthermore, he asserted that Chief Minister Mann has become an encumbrance in his role.
Jakhar affirmed that the BJP will not rest until justice is served for the victim's family.
He urged the Chief Minister to take moral responsibility and step down, insisting that the investigation should be conducted by an independent agency within a specified timeframe.
