New Delhi, March 10 (NationPress) Congress national spokesperson Pawan Khera on Monday criticized the Central government for the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids at Bhupesh Baghel's residence, labeling it a part of a BJP scheme to divert attention from significant matters, especially concerning the Parliament.

Khera stated, "The BJP, cornered on multiple fronts and struggling to navigate various issues, seeks a distraction. They aim to shift focus, alter news narratives, and this could indeed be a component of that plot."

His remarks arrive as ED operations persist at various sites associated with Bhupesh Baghel and his family.

Questioning the basis of these ED actions, he asserted, "This is occurring in a nebulous case, with no clear reason behind it. Just days ago, a court dismissed a CBI case against Bhupesh Baghel, indicating there is no case against him. Yet, the ED continues its raids today, which may coincide with the commencement of the Parliament session."

He also suggested that the central agency might have been utilized by the ruling party to hinder Bhupesh Baghel's political endeavors in Punjab, where he recently assumed the role of in-charge.

"This could be an effort to disrupt his activities as he initiates his political work in Punjab," Khera remarked. He stressed that such maneuvers by the BJP, with the ED operating under their influence, will be remembered.

The ED executed raids at the residence of Chaitanya Baghel, son of Bhupesh Baghel, located in the Padumnagar area of Bhilai, Chhattisgarh.

Teams arriving in four Innova cars commenced their search early in the morning, and reports indicate that this operation is part of a broader investigation, with around 14 locations across the state being raided, some related to Chaitanya Baghel.

The raids were conducted concerning alleged financial irregularities and money laundering cases, including a notorious liquor scam.

Bhupesh Baghel, facing accusations of irregularities in the liquor industry during his term, has persistently denied these claims.
