BJP Conducts Thorough Review of Jharkhand Election Loss, Plans Organizational Overhaul

Ranchi, Dec 1 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has embarked on a detailed evaluation of its recent electoral loss in the Jharkhand Assembly polls, engaging in four extensive meetings at its state headquarters in Ranchi, guided by national General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santhosh, during the weekend.
The party will compile a detailed report for the national leadership, based on the findings from these discussions. A high-level review meeting is set to take place in New Delhi on December 3, chaired by BJP President J.P. Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Throughout the two days of discussions held on Saturday and Sunday, candidates who were unsuccessful, district presidents, in-charges, and leaders from party fronts contributed their insights and deliberated on the reasons behind the electoral setback.
Many participants pinpointed the loss to vote erosion due to the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JKLM), which affected BJP candidates across multiple constituencies.
The Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha made a notable entry into this election, garnering approximately 10.51 lakh votes across the 69 constituencies it contested, despite winning only one seat. Party leader Jairam Mahato even triumphed over heavyweight candidate Baby Devi from the JMM by roughly 11,000 votes.
Participants also highlighted the challenge posed by rebel candidates and infiltrators in crucial constituencies.
The implementation of the Maiya Samman Yojana, a scheme introduced by the Hemant Soren government aimed at transferring funds to women's accounts shortly before the elections, was also mentioned as a factor that influenced voter behavior.
Successful candidates shared their campaign experiences, which will assist in pinpointing areas needing improvement.
Santhosh urged party members to regard the defeat as a learning experience, emphasizing the importance of addressing weaknesses with renewed determination. He highlighted that organizational growth and policy advocacy should be prioritized.
Additionally, he announced a strategic re-launch of the party's membership drive in Jharkhand, which had been paused due to the elections.
Despite acknowledging the disappointment, Santhosh pointed out a positive note -- the BJP's vote share saw an increase during the elections. He encouraged party workers to express gratitude to voters at the grassroots level and leverage the upcoming municipal elections as a chance to redefine organizational strategies.
The review sessions were led by Jharkhand BJP President Babulal Marandi. Key figures such as state in-charge Laxmikant Bajpai, acting state President Ravindra Kumar Ray, Regional Organisation Secretary Nagendra Nath Tripathi, and Jharkhand General Secretary Organisation Karmveer Singh were actively involved.
Other notable attendees included Vice-President Balmukund Sahay and office minister Hemant Das, along with core committee members.
In the recent elections, the JMM-led INDIA bloc achieved a significant victory, securing 56 seats, while the BJP-led NDA managed to win only 24 seats in the 81-member House.
