Indore, June 12 (NationPress) A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, who ingested poison at his home in Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa, passed away while receiving medical care at a hospital in Indore on Thursday.
The individual, known as Santosh Pandey, served as the BJP's district general secretary in Khandwa and reportedly consumed poison due to an alleged ongoing property dispute. He was transported to Indore on Wednesday night.
On Wednesday, when Pandey's daughter brought him tea at his private office in Singhal Talai town in Khandwa, she discovered him unconscious on the floor.
She promptly notified other family members.
Supporters of Pandey (BJP workers) also arrived at the scene, and he was taken to a nearby medical facility.
The family of the deceased leader alerted the local authorities at the Vijay Nagar police station.
After receiving initial treatment for thirty minutes, Pandey was referred to Vedanta Hospital in Indore, located approximately 150 km from Khandwa district.
A team from the Vijay Nagar police station visited Pandey's residence (where he ingested poison) to initiate an investigation.
'The police team has examined Pandey's home and recovered several documents related to the property. Our investigation is still in its early phase. Further actions will be determined based on the investigation's findings,' stated a police officer at the Vijay Nagar police station.
Meanwhile, a video circulated on social media in which the BJP leader claimed he had purchased land worth Rs 3 crore from an individual named Upendra Mandloi a few months prior, but neither the land was transferred to him nor was his money reimbursed.
'When I asked Upendra Mandloi to refund my money, they (Upendra and his associates) began threatening me, which led to immense mental distress, resulting in my decision to consume poison,' Pandey expressed in the hospital video.
Santosh's brother, Praveen Pandey, informed the media that Santosh had been under significant mental strain for over two months due to the property issue.
'My brother experienced severe mental distress for more than two months. Those responsible for pushing him to this drastic action must face consequences,' he remarked.
