New Delhi, March 30 (NationPress) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh subtly criticized the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government regarding the language debate while emphasizing that the Bharatiya Janata Party is dedicated to safeguarding Hindi and all Indian languages.

During an event organized by the BJP's 'Mahila Morcha' to honor Tamil queen Velu Nachiyar, the Defence Minister stated on Saturday that certain individuals are instigating controversies surrounding Tamil and Hindi. He praised efforts to raise awareness about her in northern India.

Singh further remarked that the inclination to divide the nation based on language must cease, asserting that there should be no rivalry but rather a collaborative spirit between Hindi and other regional languages. He emphasized that attempts to fracture the country on linguistic grounds should be halted.

"Certain individuals are needlessly igniting disputes over the Tamil and Hindi languages. The BJP is unwavering in its commitment to preserving Hindi and all Indian languages, and we are actively working toward this goal. There is no rivalry; instead, a spirit of collaboration exists among Hindi and other Indian languages. Hindi fortifies all Indian languages, just as all Indian languages support Hindi," Rajnath Singh stated.

"This trend of dividing our nation in the name of language must be brought to an end. If anyone can effectively spread this message and play an active role, I believe our sisters can do so in a profoundly impactful manner," he added.

The Defence Minister also remarked: "It is paradoxical that some individuals in our nation have begun to view Aurangzeb as a role model. Aurangzeb not only divided Indians along religious lines but also perpetrated atrocities against followers of different faiths."

His remarks arise amid tensions between the Tamil Nadu government, led by MK Stalin, and the Central government over the three-language formula proposed in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the delimitation process.

In his address, Rajnath Singh also underscored the BJP government's dedication to women's empowerment, stating that the party has ensured reservations for women in Parliament and state Assemblies.

He highlighted that without the empowerment and support of women, the aspiration of creating a strong and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (self-reliant India) is unachievable.

"We passed the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, which guarantees reservations for women in Parliament and state Assemblies. During my tenure as party president, I ensured that women constituted at least 33 percent representation within the party structure. Achieving a robust and self-reliant India is impossible without the backing and empowerment of women," Singh remarked.

The Defence Minister also commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for prioritizing women-led development in the nation.

"Today, our Prime Minister has shown unwavering faith in the capabilities and strength of women. There is an increasing emphasis on women-led development in the country. Prior to PM Modi, discussions of women-led development were virtually nonexistent," he stated.

On this occasion, the senior BJP leader also paid tribute to Queen Mangammal, another historical figure from Tamil Nadu, and commended her reign.

He noted that women were instrumental in transforming India's freedom struggle into a mass movement.

PM Modi has frequently praised Velu Nachiyar, an 18th-century monarch, as one of the inspiring figures who resisted British rule.
