Patna, Sep 9 (NationPress) RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has voiced his strong discontent regarding purported threats directed at his party members who are gathering forms from women under the ‘Mai Behin Maan Yojana’ in the lead-up to the Bihar Assembly elections.
Addressing the media in Patna, Tejashwi accused the ruling government of unjustly targeting this initiative.
“As a political party, we are engaged in filling forms under the Mai Behin Maan Yojana. If this is deemed illegal, the government must provide a written statement. Our workers are being jailed by ministers and Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary, while the administration intimidates citizens. This cannot continue,” he stated.
The RJD leader also cautioned that his party would pursue legal actions against officials who harass their workers.
“We will bring such officials to court. Our workers should not be afraid of threats. We stand resolutely with them,” Tejashwi declared.
The ‘Mai Behin Maan Yojana’, which was recently introduced by the RJD, focuses on the welfare of women and is being highlighted as one of the party's key promises for the forthcoming elections.
In contrast, the ruling NDA has accused the RJD of exploiting welfare programs for electoral advantage, resulting in intense political exchanges.
Tejashwi Yadav also applauded the Supreme Court’s ruling that mandates the inclusion of the Aadhaar card in the voter list, claiming it as a triumph for the opposition.
“This is our victory, the victory of the opposition. We have advocated for this for a considerable time. We express our gratitude to the Supreme Court for this ruling,” Tejashwi remarked.
When discussing the Vice President election, in which NDA candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan won, the former Deputy Chief Minister regarded the results as inconsequential.
“The outcome holds no significance to us. We have presented our arguments strongly. The real issue is the necessity of this election. Is Jagdeep Dhankar genuinely ill, or is there another explanation? Where is he? Has he been placed under house arrest?” Tejashwi questioned, expressing skepticism about the events surrounding the election.
