Guwahati, Jan 10 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, declared on Saturday that the hallmark of the BJP-led administration in the state is transparent and merit-based recruitment. He emphasized that the government has effectively reinstated public trust in the allocation of government jobs through significant reforms such as the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE).

During a ceremony at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex, he handed out appointment letters to 6,347 Grade-III candidates, and noted that the total number of government positions filled under the current administration has now reached 1,56,679.

Chief Minister Sarma explained that the ADRE system was designed to guarantee fairness and transparency, removing intermediaries and corrupt practices from the hiring process.

“Every appointment made through ADRE is strictly based on merit. The recruitment process has been free of litigation, with no cases in the High Court, which speaks volumes about its integrity,” he remarked.

He also mentioned that the remaining recruitment for candidates selected under ADRE will be finalized before February 10, and highlighted that Assam's model of merit-based recruitment is being studied by various other states as a best practice.

“This showcases the effectiveness of our initiatives for clean governance,” he added.

In the second phase, over 6,000 candidates were selected for 50 government departments, with 6,347 passing the document verification.

Congratulating the new employees, the Chief Minister urged them to maintain integrity and resist all forms of corruption from day one.

Additionally, the Chief Minister called on the appointees to embrace the spirit of “Team Assam”, foster cooperation within the administration, and maintain a mindset of continuous learning throughout their careers to boost efficiency and innovation in public service.

The event was attended by various ministers, senior officials, and dignitaries.
