Earlier last week, a shooting incident at Times Square resulted in injuries to three individuals, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD).
All of the injured were hospitalized and are reported to be in stable condition, as stated by an NYPD spokesperson. A 17-year-old male was taken into custody, and a weapon was confiscated.
The Times Square shooting transpired at the intersection of 44th Street and Seventh Avenue, a bustling area frequented by tourists.
Social media footage depicted people fleeing the scene after the shooting, while police secured the area and provided aid to the injured on the ground.
This incident follows a tragic shooting in July at a Manhattan office building, which resulted in four fatalities.
On July 28, a gunman tragically killed four individuals and injured six before taking his own life within an office tower in Manhattan.
The assailant, identified as Shane Tamura, aged 27, opened fire around 6 p.m. (2200 GMT) before succumbing to what was described as “an apparently self-inflicted injury,” according to CNN reports later confirmed by Mayor Eric Adams.
Among the victims was an off-duty member of the New York Police Department, while the others were civilians, as reported by local media.
