Mumbai, Aug 19 (NationPress) It has been over two decades since we were first graced with the enchanting track 'Piyu Bole' from Pradeep Sarkar's iconic film 'Parineeta'. To celebrate this remarkable milestone, singer Shreya Ghoshal shared an unreleased verse from this beloved melody.
She was later joined by lyricist Swanand Kirkire and composer Shantanu Moitra.
Performed by Shreya and Sonu Nigam, 'Piyu Bole' features the charming duo Vidya Balan and Saif Ali Khan in its video.
While sharing the lovely verse on Instagram, Shreya expressed: 'Here we go - The Unreleased Verse - Piyu Bole... We celebrate 20 years of #Parineeta, but more importantly, this year also signifies 20 years of our friendship! The trio that the world has cherished so much! @moitrashantanu @swanandkirkire @shreyaghoshal.'
Recently, Vidya revealed that 'Piyu Bole' was the first song she experienced from the 'Parineeta' soundtrack.
She shared that while filming a music video with the late director Pradeep Sarkar, he invited her to listen to a track his team had just recorded.
“There’s something special about 'Piyu Bole' that resonates with me. It’s incredibly easy to hum, possesses an old-world charm, and its romantic essence, paired with the visuals, makes it feel timeless. It continues to connect with audiences today,” Vidya shared.
She continued: “In fact, many young fans have told me how much they adore that song, which truly reflects its timeless appeal. The first song I heard recorded for Parineeta was ‘Raat Hamari Toh’. While shooting a music video in Kolkata with Dada, he instructed me, 'Just go down to the car; there’s a CD with a song we’ve recently recorded.' I went down, played it, and I couldn’t help but cry in the car. It’s such a hauntingly beautiful and powerful composition. Every song from Parineeta is a masterpiece.”
