Haveri (Karnataka), Oct 11 (NationPress) – A vibrant gathering took place in Haveri city, Karnataka, as thousands came together to mark a belated celebration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 75th birthday on Saturday, under the leadership of former Chief Minister and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai. Attendees made a commitment to foster a self-reliant and drug-free India.

After partaking in the “Namo Youth Run” event organized for the occasion, Bommai emphasized the significance of using indigenous products to fuel national growth.

"To position India as the leading nation by 2047, it is essential to lessen our reliance on foreign goods and promote local products," Bommai asserted.

He urged citizens to unite in their resolve to create a “glorious India — a self-sufficient, drug-free nation” under PM Modi’s guidance.

The BJP MP highlighted PM Modi's vision of a drug-free India as a pivotal direction for the nation.

Reflecting on his time as Karnataka's home minister, he remarked, "Our administration intensified the crusade against drugs, achieving a record number of foreign drug seizures and eliminations during our BJP governance."

Bommai called on the youth to promptly report any instances of drug sales to the authorities, emphasizing that the management of such venues would be held accountable.

“Any establishment where drugs are sold will face consequences. Drugs destroy the lives of young individuals. Using them is akin to consuming poison daily, and it is imperative that no one engages with that poison,” he warned.

This celebration, a follow-up to the nationwide observance of the Prime Minister’s birthday on September 17, is part of a broader initiative that includes blood donation drives, health camps, and sporting events.

He unveiled plans for a “Swadeshi Fair” and a “Namo MPs’ Sports Meet” scheduled for November.

Bommai also highlighted PM Modi’s commitment to youth engagement, referencing initiatives such as “Start-Up” programs and sports initiatives like 'Khelo India' and 'Fit India.'

“Modi’s governance is rooted in the people’s needs, actively involving them,” Bommai stated, noting that the Prime Minister's endeavors have engaged youth across all initiatives, empowering them to achieve success and uphold high values.

“Youth must be fostered with patriotism and awareness. PM Modi envisions a future where young leaders live successful lives grounded in the highest ideals, which is why he incorporates youth in all his programs,” he elaborated.

He further acknowledged that the Prime Minister’s economic strategies have elevated 25 crore individuals out of poverty, dubbing it a “world record.”

The MP commended Haveri's youth for their enthusiastic participation, affirming that the birthday celebration is being observed meaningfully, reflecting the people's “love and admiration” for their national leader.

“The Prime Minister is a beacon of inspiration and ranks among the most effective leaders in our country. His 75th birthday is being commemorated significantly, with diverse participation, especially from the youth. This is a testament to the nation's respect and admiration for Modi, who continues to inspire,” Bommai emphasized.

In a subtle critique of the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, Bommai remarked that certain individuals speak in divisive tones, and when abroad, they undermine the country’s democratic values.

“Our youth must remain vigilant. India offers vast opportunities in education, employment, and beyond, but these can only be realized if we protect our nation," he concluded.
