New Delhi, June 28 (NationPress) The Centre announced on Saturday its dedication to finalizing the digital transformation journey to guarantee that timely and high-quality data is always at hand for policy formulation, paving the path toward a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
This digital transformation signifies a steadfast commitment to enhancing official statistics, ensuring they are more timely, trustworthy, and accessible to meet the demands of a data-driven New India.
“Our mission is to equip every citizen, researcher, and policymaker with high-quality data that fuels informed decision-making and supports India's ambitious development objectives by 2047,” stated the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
The National Statistical Office (NSO), operating under the ministry, has made significant strides in its comprehensive digital transformation journey in the previous year.
Following the foundational launch of the eSankhyiki portal on National Statistics Day on June 29, 2024, the momentum has continued with the successful rollout of over a dozen new digital modules, portals, and websites, marking a critical initial phase focused on data dissemination and data collection as the ministry's public-facing services.
This past year has seen the introduction of several essential digital assets that bolster transparency and enhance data accessibility for researchers, policymakers, and the general public.
Among these notable advancements are the DI Lab (Data Innovation Lab), OCMS, Metadata portals, and new dedicated websites for the National Statistical System Training Academy (NSSTA) and the National Statistical Commission (NSC).
Additionally, the NSO has launched public-facing dashboards for crucial statistical areas, including the Social Statistics Division (SSD), Annual Survey of Industries (ASI), Economic Census (EC), and National Sample Survey (NSS) as part of the eSankhyiki portal, providing stakeholders with real-time access to India's official statistics.
With these enhancements, the portal now boasts over 135 million records.
Demonstrating its commitment to innovation and readiness for the future, the ministry has identified seven key use cases for integrating emerging technologies into its statistical operations.
As it expands its digital ecosystem, the ministry has also prioritized the security of its national data assets.
