Chandrababu Naidu Aims to Finish Polavaram Project by October 2026

Amaravati, Dec 16 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, stated on Monday that his administration is aiming to have the Polavaram project completed by October 2026.
He instructed officials to ensure the completion of the diaphragm wall by December 2025.
Accompanied by his Cabinet members and officials, the Chief Minister visited the project site situated across the Godavari River in Polavaram, Eluru district. After conducting an aerial inspection of the area, he led a meeting where he provided clear instructions to the relevant officers.
Emphasizing the importance of gaining recognition for Polavaram as an iconic project, he urged officials to expedite the project activities.
The Chief Minister mentioned that officials should operate with enhanced efficiency to meet the established targets.
Officials from the Irrigation department and representatives from the engineering firm overseeing the project are expected to accurately identify any technical challenges and devise plans to ensure timely and precise completion of the works.
In his remarks, the Chief Minister indicated that the upcoming meeting would primarily focus on reviewing the project’s progress and advancing the planned initiatives.
He stressed the significance of pinpointing technical elements and taking necessary measures to meet the project milestones. Moreover, he insisted that the work on the diaphragm wall and the Earth-cum-Rock-Fill (ECRF) dam should proceed concurrently.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the ECRF gap-1 tasks are set to begin by December 24 and expected to be finalized by February 26. He directed officials to complete gap-2 tasks before December 27 and to accelerate other related works simultaneously.
Chandrababu Naidu reiterated that the interlinking of the left and right canals must be executed punctually. Contractors and officials are to devise and implement specific action plans for material relocation and trial runs within set timelines, he emphasized.
The Chief Minister assured that necessary manpower would be allocated for land acquisition, appointing a dedicated officer for oversight.
He insisted that all land acquisition and related tasks should be wrapped up by June 26.
Naidu specified that proposals for obtaining necessary permissions must be prioritized to facilitate swift project execution.
He affirmed that directions from the Supreme Court concerning rehabilitation and related project matters should be strictly adhered to. Special Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad provided a comprehensive update on project progress and associated issues.
Present at the meeting were the Minister for Water Resources, Nimmala Ramanaidu, the Minister for Housing, Information and Public Relations, Kolusu Parthasarathi, the Minister for Civil Supplies, Nadendla Manohar, and Eluru MP, Putta Mahesh Kumar, along with local MLAs and officials.
