Raipur/Narayanpur, Feb 5 (NationPress) In a significant blow to armed Left Wing Extremism in the Abujhmad region of Chhattisgarh, the Narayanpur district police, alongside the District Reserve Guard (DRG), uncovered a large stash of equipment from an elusive Maoist weapons manufacturing site on Thursday, undermining the insurgents' logistical strength.

Following reliable intelligence about a hidden stockpile in the Korsakodo-Pangud-Kandulpar area under the jurisdiction of Sonpur police station, the DRG team promptly adjusted its area dominance patrol and initiated a thorough search operation.

Executed without any casualties or injuries among security personnel, the operation successfully revealed a considerable amount of materials aimed at producing improvised weapons, which included barrel grenade launchers (BGLs) and various other arms.

The retrieved items, now securely stored at Sonpur Police Station for documentation and subsequent legal actions, comprised nearly 1,000 kg of aluminum rods in different sizes; 140 pieces of half-inch aluminum, 32 pieces of two-inch aluminum (each weighing 8 kg), and 30 pieces of three-inch aluminum (each weighing 22.5 kg).

A significant number of iron pipes were also seized, including 584 half-inch, 588 one-inch, 70 one-and-a-half-inch, 30 two-inch, 11 small one-and-a-half-inch, and three two-and-a-half-inch pieces.

Additional discoveries included 61 BGL shells, 21 smaller BGL shells, 46 bow and arrow BGLs, 14 empty SLR magazines, one pistol magazine, one Tulu motor, five kerosene brush blue pumps, 310 cutter wheels, packets of screws in various sizes, light fittings, a welding electrode holder, a compact electronic scale, 44 motorcycle spokes, sandpaper, two grinder machines accompanied by a toolbox, grinding wheels, motor belts, stock pins and washers, along with other machinery and tools.

This operation underscores the effectiveness of the Chhattisgarh government's comprehensive strategy aimed at eradicating Naxalism, which combines a sustained security presence, establishment of new camps, and community outreach initiatives.

The recent inauguration of a security camp at Korsakodo, paired with the “Mad Bachao” (Save Mad) campaign, has fostered increased trust among local villagers in the remote interiors of Abujhmad.

Residents are now more inclined to share vital information regarding concealed Naxal dumps, which facilitates proactive recoveries that disrupt Maoist supply chains and production facilities, especially ahead of the Union government's deadline of March 31, 2026, for eliminating Left-Wing Extremism.

Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Robinson Guria highlighted the ongoing momentum, emphasizing that the vigilance and coordinated actions of security forces, central paramilitary units, and informed citizens are paving the way for enduring peace and development in the region.

He reaffirmed the commitment to achieving a Naxal-free Bastar through relentless operations, infrastructure enhancements such as roads and bridges, and welfare initiatives extending to interior villages.

Such recoveries diminish the Maoists' capacity to perpetuate violence, complementing parallel surrender drives and rehabilitation programs that have encouraged hundreds to renounce the path of insurgency in recent months throughout the Bastar division.
