New Delhi, April 8 (NationPress) The global semiconductor market is anticipated to surpass $1.3 trillion by 2026, indicating the most rapid expansion seen in over 20 years, as outlined in a report published on Wednesday.

The analysis from research firm Gartner highlights a projected 64% growth in the industry for 2026, driven by robust demand for artificial intelligence (AI) processing, enhanced data center infrastructure, and rising memory costs.

Rajeev Rajput, Senior Principal Analyst at Gartner, stated, "With the soaring demand for AI processing, data center networking, and increased memory prices, the semiconductor sector is set to experience its third consecutive year of double-digit growth in 2026."

The report further noted that total semiconductor revenue is projected to climb from $805.3 billion in 2025 to $1,320.2 billion in 2026, and then increase to $1,554.5 billion in 2027.

Memory revenue is expected to nearly triple, soaring to $633.3 billion in 2026 from $216.3 billion in 2025, primarily due to inflation in memory chip prices.

According to Gartner's projections, prices for Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) are estimated to surge by 125%, while NAND flash prices could spike by 234% in 2026, with any significant price corrections unlikely before late 2027.

The report also indicated that AI semiconductors are expected to make up around 30% of total industry revenue in 2026, remaining the principal growth catalyst.

Investment by hyperscalers in AI infrastructure is projected to rise by more than 50%, further fueling the demand for AI accelerators, including GPUs and custom chips.

However, the report warns that escalating memory prices might postpone demand in non-AI segments until 2028.
