Patna, Oct 10 (NationPress) Union Food Processing Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) Chief Chirag Paswan has addressed a letter to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, advocating for a thorough, transparent, and time-sensitive inquiry into the purported suicide of senior IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar.
The officer, belonging to the 1997-batch Haryana cadre, was discovered deceased at his official residence in Chandigarh on October 7, an incident that officials have labeled as a suicide.
This tragic event has reverberated through the administrative community and ignited discussions surrounding institutional pressures and caste-based discrimination within the bureaucratic framework.
In his correspondence to Chief Minister Saini, Paswan articulated that the situation is “deeply saddening” and “disturbing”, emphasizing that it has disturbed the entire administrative realm and society at large.
He remarked, “This is not merely the loss of an officer but a grim indication of the mental and caste-related oppression that persists in our administrative framework, akin to poison within today’s society.”
Paswan highlighted that the contents of the suicide note purportedly left by the IPS officer have deeply impacted the administrative framework, indicating that this matter extends beyond Haryana’s reputation to the Constitutional dignity of the nation.
He insisted that the issue should not devolve into a political or bureaucratic squabble, but should instead serve as a litmus test for justice, equality, and humanity.
“Decisive, transparent, and courageous actions will signal to the nation that no individual is above the law—be it their position, prestige, or influence,” he added.
Paswan called upon the Haryana government to guarantee swift and unbiased action to uphold the dignity and safety of honest officers.
“Justice for the officer in this situation will reflect the Haryana government’s commitment to safeguarding its administrative workforce, irrespective of the power or influence of the alleged perpetrators,” Paswan remarked.
He concluded by expressing his hope that Chief Minister Saini will prioritize this matter and work towards justice for the officer's family.
