Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Dec 25 (NationPress) Actress Chitrangda Singh took a moment to reflect on the evolution of Bollywood during the initial 25 years of the 21st century, declaring this time a crucial chapter in her career as it marked the beginning of her journey as an actress.
In her conversation with IANS, Chitrangda expressed, “I never considered this a first quarter, but this is when my life as an actor began, making it incredibly significant for me. Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi was the film that launched my career.”
She reminisced about her filmography, which includes works like Inkaar, predating the Me Too movement, alongside iconic films such as Three Idiots, Dangal, Sultan, and the globally acclaimed Slumdog Millionaire.
“I have been part of several films like Inkaar, which was released before the Me Too movement. I believe a lot of my work came ahead of its time. Among the most memorable films are Three Idiots, Dangal, Sultan, and more recently, Homebound, as well as Slumdog Millionaire.”
She noted that the body of work available is vast and varied.
“The work of Vishal Bhardwaj was remarkable; Abhishek Chaubey excelled as well. And then, there’s the Spy Universe. Films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan stand out. I feel there’s an abundance of content. While it’s easy to criticize the current state of cinema, when we look back, there’s plenty to be proud of.”
Discussing the transformation of storytelling, she remarked, “The way stories are told has changed. I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s evolved; it's simply different now. Technically, we have improved significantly. However, sometimes, technology can hinder storytelling.”
Chitrangda pointed out recent films like Dhurandar, where technology and AI were effectively integrated to enhance the storyline.
“That said, Dhurandar is an excellent example of how technology and AI have beautifully merged to create a compelling narrative. Moving forward, I believe we will continue to improve.”
Moreover, she commended groundbreaking films such as Gangs of Wasseypur, Rang De Basanti, and Lagaan.
“However, I hope that we don’t rely solely on technology and AI. We must invest more time and effort into writing, which will always remain paramount. I found Gangs of Wasseypur to be revolutionary. Rang De Basanti and Lagaan were also critical films. There are indeed many noteworthy works.”
