New Delhi, March 12 (NationPress) Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has sanctioned multiple significant proposals from the Madhya Pradesh government during a Thursday meeting with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at Krishi Bhavan.
Present at the meeting were Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel and senior officials from both the Union Ministry of Agriculture and the Madhya Pradesh government.
Key discussions revolved around unresolved issues pertaining to agricultural procurement and rural development in Madhya Pradesh, with a specific focus on mustard procurement.
Chouhan greenlit the state's proposal under the Bhavantar Payment Scheme for mustard procurement and instructed relevant departments to accelerate the payment processes.
“This decision will alleviate the financial strain on mustard-growing farmers and ensure the state government meets its commitments to them promptly,” Chouhan remarked.
The Union Minister also presented Chief Minister Mohan Yadav with an approval letter for the complete procurement of Tur (pigeon pea) in Madhya Pradesh.
“This initiative will guarantee that the government procures Tur from farmers, shielding them from market price fluctuations and ensuring a steady income,” he added.
The meeting also evaluated matters related to payments for discrepancies in mustard and soybean pricing in Madhya Pradesh, additional targets for green gram and black gram under the Pulses Mission, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PM Crop Insurance Scheme), the Soil Health and Fertility Programme, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), and the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
Chouhan instructed officials to prioritize outstanding issues affecting Madhya Pradesh so that farmers, laborers, and the rural poor can receive timely support and benefits.
He also highlighted that Madhya Pradesh is designating 2026 as the ‘Farmer Welfare Year’, emphasizing the Centre's special focus on the agricultural state.
“Throughout the Farmer Welfare Year, we will ensure that farmers growing mustard, pigeon pea, green gram, black gram, and oilseeds receive comprehensive assistance, while the state continues to excel in rural development,” Chouhan concluded.
