Dehradun, July 6 (NationPress) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized the need for increased public awareness and collaboration to bolster the state’s legislative initiatives against forced religious conversions, demographic changes, and land encroachments.
The Chief Minister reiterated his administration’s dedication to national unity, soldier welfare, and environmental conservation during the Uttarakhand @ 2047 'Samuhik Samvad - With Ex-Servicemen' event held at Garhi Cantt, Dehradun.
While addressing a significant crowd of ex-servicemen, CM Dhami showcased the enactment of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), stringent anti-riot legislation, and proactive measures against unlawful land occupation as pivotal successes of his government.
He pointed out that despite the government's decisive actions, the effectiveness of these measures relies heavily on active public involvement and vigilance. Being the son of a soldier, Dhami honored the sacrifices made by ex-servicemen and their families, acknowledging that nearly every household in Uttarakhand, revered as both 'Devbhoomi' and 'Veerbhoomi', has a connection to the Armed Forces.
“I have seen firsthand the struggles faced by soldiers and their families. Our government is dedicated to sensitively and effectively addressing their concerns,” he asserted. Additionally, a training facility for retired soldiers is being established in the state to aid in their post-service careers.
Dhami encouraged ex-servicemen to take on the role of environmental protectors, urging their involvement in the nationwide ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and instructed the Forest Department to plant 1,000 trees in each division. “Wherever a soldier plants a tree, it is destined to flourish,” he remarked.
The Chief Minister also shared optimistic data regarding the state’s progress. Over 38 lakh tourists visited Uttarakhand in the last two months, spurred by heightened interest in winter tourism and the ‘Adi Kailash Yatra’. The unemployment rate has decreased to 4.2%, which is lower than the national average, and the duration of the Mansarovar Yatra has been shortened by seven days, enhancing accessibility for pilgrims.
The gathering was attended by Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, Lt Gen (Retd) AK Singh, Major Gen (Retd) KS Rana, K Birendra Singh Rana, Brig. Nitesh Bisht, along with a significant number of ex-servicemen. The event concluded with a united commitment to construct a stronger, more inclusive Uttarakhand by 2047.
