Raipur, Nov 22 (NationPress) The Congress party has commenced an investigation into one of its office-bearers within the Chhattisgarh Youth Congress for posting a pro-Naxal message on social media. The party leadership has formed a two-member committee to look into the situation and impose strict measures against the office bearer, Preeti Manjhi.
In the meantime, the Indian Youth Congress has suspended the organizational role of its National Joint Secretary, Preeti Manjhi, “on hold” immediately after she shared the controversial message on social media, which seemed to show support for notorious Maoist commander Madvi Hidma, who is known for orchestrating several significant attacks in Chhattisgarh.
The Chhattisgarh Youth Congress characterized the post as “not just a social media blunder but a serious concern regarding national security, peace, and democratic values.”
In a statement to IANS, Amit Singh Pathania, the Chhattisgarh in-charge of Youth Congress, mentioned that the national leadership has set up a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the issue, with Manjhi’s organizational duties remaining “on hold” until the investigation is complete.
It has been reported that she referred to Hidma using the phrase “Lal Salam.” Recently, Hidma was neutralized alongside his associates in a confrontation with security forces. He had a bounty of ₹1 crore on his head and was implicated in numerous killings and massacres in Chhattisgarh.
The Congress party has cautioned of “strict disciplinary action” depending on the findings of the committee.
Pathania labeled Hidma as “a vicious, ruthless murderer with a cannibalistic mentality” who has brutally killed innocent tribals, civilians, government employees, and security personnel throughout the years.
“This issue goes beyond a mere social media post; it is a significant matter regarding the nation’s security, peace, and democratic principles. The Congress party does not accommodate such mentality,” he stated, adding, “Under no circumstances can Congress endorse even a fraction of violence.”
“Expressing any sympathy or backing for such a barbaric figure is not only callous but also an affront to humanity and democratic values,” Pathania asserted.
He reiterated that the Youth Congress firmly opposes Naxalism, which it perceives as the greatest threat to peace in Chhattisgarh and the nation.
In a statement, the Youth Congress also recalled the tragic memory of the 2013 Jheeram Valley (Chhattisgarh) massacre, where prominent Congress leaders, including former state president Nand Kumar Patel and Mahendra Karma, lost their lives in a Maoist attack.
“That event remains a deep wound for the party. Any empathy shown towards killers like Hidma is absolutely intolerable,” the Youth Congress affirmed.
