Why is Congress Criticizing the NCP Factions' Joint Manifesto?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Jan 10 (NationPress) In light of the recent unveiling of a collaborative manifesto by the two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Pune, Congress Legislature Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar has vehemently criticized the move. He raised concerns over whether this reconciliation is genuinely based on ideology or simply a desperate attempt for survival.
The unexpected alignment of Ajit Pawar and Supriya Sule on a shared platform has caused significant ripples in the political arena of the state.
Wadettiwar queried the true intentions behind this newfound unity. “Is this reunion for the benefit of grassroots workers, or is it merely a tactical maneuver to secure positions in the Cabinet?” he questioned. This reference came amid speculation that NCP(SP) legislator Rohit Pawar might join the state Cabinet, while Supriya Sule is rumored to be in line for a role at the Union Cabinet level.
“The NCP cannot endure without power,” Wadettiwar stated. “If they lose their governmental position, the party is bound to disintegrate. For them, power is everything. For Congress, it’s the Constitution and democracy that holds importance. Rahul Gandhi is championing these principles, and we will continue to support him,” he asserted.
In light of the ongoing tensions between the Shinde-led Shiv Sena and the BJP in Ambernath, which has been termed “Noora Kushti” (a staged match) by political analysts, Wadettiwar remarked, “They argue today, but will they actually exit the government tomorrow? This is a calculated tactic. Shinde is being utilized to fracture the Marathi votes, while Ajit Pawar is aimed at dividing the progressive votes. It’s a deliberate strategy to undermine both Congress and the Thackeray-led Shiv Sena,” he alleged.
Wadettiwar noted that the BJP is experiencing internal unrest as dissent grows within its ranks. He ridiculed the party's dependence on police warnings to manage its own dissenters. “If the BJP cannot persuade its own members and resorts to police threats, it’s clear that the party’s discipline has utterly collapsed,” he commented.
Taking a jab at the ruling party, Wadettiwar proposed a new slogan for the state: “Rescue the BJP from its own dissenters.”
