Key Takeaways
Pune, Jan 10 (NationPress) The president of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, Harshwardhan Sapkal, issued a challenge to the BJP and NCP on Saturday, urging them to exit their positions of power before leveling accusations against one another.
“Currently, Maharashtra is governed by a triple-engine coalition comprising the BJP, Shinde Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP. These factions have united solely to reap the benefits of power. While in power, Ajit Pawar openly accuses the BJP of corruption, and the BJP reciprocates with allegations against him. If these parties are only interested in exchanging accusations, why do they continue to hold power? They should first relinquish their positions and then voice their complaints,” he remarked.
During a press conference in Pune, the Congress state president pointed out that Ajit Pawar labels the Bharatiya Janata Party as the most corrupt entity, while the BJP counters with similar claims regarding Ajit Pawar. In response to inquiries about the Parth Pawar land scandal, Ajit Pawar’s typical replies include “Jai Jinendra” and “Jai Jain Boarding,” he noted.
“These individuals are shifting their allegiances in a way that would embarrass even a chameleon. Instead of trading accusations while remaining in power, Ajit Pawar ought to resign or the BJP should withdraw its backing from his party. However, neither will happen as they are two sides of the same coin. There is no integrity left among the BJP, Shinde Sena, and NCP,” he asserted.
Sapkal went on to express that Pune boasts a rich historical, cultural, and educational legacy. Once celebrated as the epicenter of education and culture, Pune now faces issues such as drug trafficking, gang violence, corruption, and deteriorating infrastructure. He called upon the residents of Pune to restore the true essence of their city.
In response to another query, Sapkal characterized the Bharatiya Janata Party as weak, claiming that they accept anyone into their ranks. “They have already welcomed criminals and now even rapists into their party,” he alleged.
