Mumbai, May 22 (NationPress) The Maharashtra Congress leader Harshwardhan Sapkal strongly criticized the NCP on Thursday, labeling the party a “gang of goons” and identifying Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar as its ringleader.
“Crime rates have skyrocketed during the BJP coalition's governance, with many perpetrators linked to the ruling party, who seem to enjoy the government's protection. Recently, individuals affiliated with the Nationalist Congress Party's Ajit Pawar faction have been implicated in numerous criminal activities across the state, raising serious concerns. Are they truly a gang of goons, with Ajit Pawar at the helm?” questioned Sapkal.
He cited various cases, including the Beed Massajog incident and the Pune Porshe Car drunk driving case, as well as others involving the Koyta gang and serious allegations against individuals like Shantanu Kukde and Deepak Mankar, all of whom are reportedly connected to the NCP.
“Why do these offenders consistently emerge from Ajit Dada’s faction? Has this ruling alliance chosen to shield them, thus emboldening their criminal activities?” he inquired.
Sapkal also took aim at the State Women’s Commission, criticizing its perceived insensitivity and inactivity. “Had the commission acted swiftly, an innocent life might have been saved. The Chairperson appears more focused on political theatrics than on ensuring women’s safety,” he stated.
He further accused the MahaYuti government of being built on a foundation of corruption, alleging rampant looting among ministers and MLAs. He cited an incident in Dhule where Rs 2 crore in cash was discovered in the office of the Budget Committee Chairman's PA, suggesting it was extorted from local contractors.
“If Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis truly opposes corruption, he must take action against Khotkar and his PA immediately,” demanded Sapkal.
According to him, unseasonal rains have devastated the state, ravaging crops and orchards, particularly affecting onion farmers. Yet, the government has failed to provide any assistance or even conduct basic damage assessments.
“With the kharif season nearing, the market is now awash with counterfeit seeds and fertilizers, with retailers exploiting farmers,” he warned, urging the government to clamp down on such unscrupulous vendors.
