Lahore, April 10 (NationPress) The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has enforced a one-year suspension on South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch from competing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). This ruling, made public on Thursday, follows Bosch's unilateral decision to terminate his contract with Peshawar Zalmi to join the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Mumbai Indians as a substitute player.
Bosch, aged 30, was selected in the Diamond category by Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi during the PSL 10 Draft held in Lahore on January 13 of this year. However, the all-rounder opted to withdraw from his PSL obligations in favor of joining Mumbai Indians, stepping in for injured South African bowler Lizaad Williams.
The PCB confirmed the ban in an official statement, highlighting that Bosch will not be eligible for selection in next year's PSL. The board reiterated its commitment to player dedication and professionalism, especially for those who enter into contractual agreements with PSL teams.
In light of the suspension, Bosch expressed his remorse through a statement issued by the PCB.
“I sincerely regret my choice to withdraw from the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) and extend my heartfelt apologies to the people of Pakistan, the fans of Peshawar Zalmi, and the broader cricket community.
“The HBL PSL is an esteemed tournament, and I fully recognize the disappointment my actions have caused. To the devoted fans of Peshawar Zalmi, I am genuinely sorry for disappointing you. I take full accountability for my actions and accept the repercussions, including the monetary fine and the one-year ban from the HBL PSL. This experience has been a difficult lesson, but I am dedicated to learning from it and aspire to return to the HBL PSL in the future with renewed commitment and the trust of the fans,” Bosch stated.
The South African cricketer made his international debut in December 2024 during an ODI against Pakistan in Johannesburg and has since participated in one Test and two ODIs for South Africa. Although his international journey is still in its infancy, Bosch has been making waves in franchise cricket.
Bosch played a pivotal role in MI Cape Town’s triumphant SA20 2025 season, where his all-around contributions were vital in helping Rashid Khan's team secure the championship.
