Chandigarh, Feb 27 (NationPress) Rambir Singh, the former MLA of Pataudi and ex-chairman of the Haryana Education Board, has been suspended from the Congress for a duration of six years due to his involvement in “anti-party activities”. He had earlier resigned from his priority membership in the party this month.
Singh publicly criticized the Congress for nepotism during his resignation announcement at his home in Pataudi on February 16.
This suspension follows the recent expulsion of Bishanlal Saini, a former MLA from the Radaur constituency in Yamunanagar, by Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Udai Bhan for joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alongside Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in Yamunanagar.
Rambir Singh praised Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini as a good human being and expressed skepticism about the Congress regaining power in the state within the next decade.
He plans to run as an Independent candidate in the upcoming Municipal Council elections, stating that his local background equips him with a better understanding of regional issues, allowing him to facilitate development more effectively than other candidates.
Singh attributed the Congress’s decline in the state to internal factionalism and specifically criticized Member of Parliament Deependra Hooda for the party's electoral failures.
“He consistently misled all the candidates seeking tickets for the assembly elections. Initially, the name of the state Congress president's son-in-law was proposed. Then, he substituted the local candidate with a daughter-in-law from Bihar. Such actions led to Congress’s loss in Pataudi. Now, the niece of the state Congress president is also being granted a ticket in the council elections,” Rambir Singh stated.
Similarly, former legislator Saini, who has been with Congress for a decade, cited internal conflicts among senior leaders as his reason for departing from the party.
