Pathanamthitta (Kerala), Aug 19 (NationPress) — In a shocking incident, five youths, including three brothers, were taken into custody in Pathanamthitta district for allegedly launching a brutal attack on a newlywed couple en route to their post-wedding photoshoot, as reported by the police on Tuesday.
The attack transpired on Sunday evening in Nedumpara, Kallooppara, near Mallappally, while the couple, Mukesh Mohan from Nedumpara Kolanikkalmala and his bride Deeptimol from Kurichi near Kottayam, were traveling to their photoshoot.
The suspects were arrested on Monday night and are set to appear in court on Tuesday, according to police officials.
The Keezhvaypoor police revealed that the altercation began when the assailants, riding motorcycles, obstructed the couple’s vehicle, subsequently attacking them and inflicting injuries.
The arrested individuals include Abhijith Aji (27), his siblings Akhiljith (25) and Amaljith (22), along with their accomplice Mayookhnath (20), all hailing from Mannaancherrimala in Kallooppara.
During the violent episode, the rear windshield of the couple's car was shattered, and the vehicle's doors sustained damage.
The group faces charges of unlawful assembly, wrongful restraint, physical assault, and property damage.
Police investigations indicate that the assault stemmed from a longstanding personal feud between Mukesh and the accused, with reports suggesting that the attackers were under the influence of alcohol at the time.
Additionally, an offense has been filed against Mukesh based on the complaint from the accused, though no arrests have been made regarding this matter.
Almost a year prior, a quarrel erupted during Abhijith's wedding between his friends and Mukesh's associates, with police stating that the resulting animosity carried over into this recent attack.
The investigation also revealed that both Akhiljith and Amaljith had previous charges filed against them related to an earlier assault incident at the Keezhvaipur police station.
