Pathanamthitta, Sep 14 (NationPress) A duo hailing from Charalkunnu in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala, has been apprehended for brutally assaulting young men after enticing them into a honeytrap, as reported by the police on Sunday.
Authorities expressed their disbelief at the shocking videos the couple recorded on their mobile devices.
As per the investigation, the first incident came to light when Reshmi, the wife, connected with a 19-year-old male from Ranni via phone, eventually inviting him to her residence.
On September 1, her spouse Jayesh collected the unsuspecting youth from Maramon Junction and brought him to their home.
Once there, the victim was coerced into pretending to engage in sexual acts with Reshmi, while Jayesh recorded the encounter.
When the youth attempted to resist, Jayesh reportedly threatened his life, bound his hands with a shawl, and pressed a knife against his neck.
Jayesh stomped on the victim's chest and legs before assaulting him with a rod handed to him by Reshmi.
The victim endured further torment—his hands were restrained with a cycle chain and suspended with a rope—while Reshmi allegedly used a cutting plier on his finger.
The couple also slapped him multiple times, sprayed a harmful substance on his navel, causing swelling, and compelled him to disclose his phone's passcodes.
They are accused of stealing the victim's mobile devices, Rs 19,000 from his wallet, and abandoning him near an auto stand, left without his pants.
A medical examination revealed numerous bruises and injuries across the victim's arms, chest, stomach, forehead, and legs.
Initially, the youth hesitated to disclose the truth to the police due to embarrassment, but mounting suspicions eventually led to the revelation of the couple's involvement.
The police also uncovered that the couple had previously targeted another victim—a youth from Alappuzha working in Bengaluru.
This individual was taken from Thiruvalla, assaulted, pepper-sprayed on his genitals, and later abandoned by the roadside.
The accused also stole his iPhone.
Given the severity of the allegations, Pathanamthitta Superintendent of Police V. Ajith has formed a special investigation team to carry out an in-depth inquiry.
The couple faces charges of assault, wrongful confinement, criminal intimidation, extortion, and theft.
