CPI-M Kerala Leader Criticizes Media, Affirms Party Cohesion

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 13 (NationPress) As organizational meetings intensify and media attention rises, CPI-M Kerala State Secretary M.V. Govindan expressed his discontent with the media for disseminating anti-Communist narratives, insisting that the party is firmly united.

The CPI-M's organizational gatherings, which are nearing completion, initiated with the first district conference in Kollam, wrapping up on Thursday.

There are still thirteen district meetings on the agenda, leading up to the state party conference in Kollam set for March of next year.

Since the commencement of the grassroots meetings, claims of factionalism within the party have emerged, particularly in districts such as Kollam, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha. Tensions have even erupted on the streets, with media outlets extensively reporting alleged dissent regarding Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's leadership and the rising prominence of his son-in-law, P.A. Mohammed Riyas, a newly elected legislator and State Tourism Minister, over seasoned party members.

Govindan dismissed these claims as unfounded. “It was claimed that I delivered a tough speech at the start of the Kollam meeting, but the truth is I spoke only yesterday,” he stated, accusing the media of fabricating incidents and spreading falsehoods.

He further asserted that the media is focused on promoting anti-Communist narratives. “We don’t seek your help, but we urge you to refrain from spreading false news,” Govindan emphasized.

Regarding the party's objectives, Govindan highlighted that the primary goal is to secure a third consecutive term for the Pinarayi Vijayan-led Left Front government in the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections. “Our discussions are centered on strengthening the party to ensure victory in 2026. When the state party conference concludes in March next year, the CPI-M in Kerala will be at its strongest,” he declared.

The 2021 electoral triumph marked a historic second consecutive term for the Left in Kerala, and Govindan reiterated the party’s commitment to replicate this achievement in 2026.
