Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Srinagar, March 11 (NationPress) In a significant move to bolster the tactical capabilities of its personnel, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has officially inaugurated a cutting-edge ‘Shoot House’ facility in Kashmir.
A statement from the CRPF highlighted that this facility is specifically designed to enhance specialised combat training for its forces.
The ‘Shoot House’ is tailored for close-quarter battle and room-entry exercises, equipping troops with vital skills necessary for executing high-risk operations effectively.
This facility is outfitted with advanced technology and aims to maintain the CRPF's operational excellence while preparing them for emerging security threats.
A ‘shoot house’, often referred to as a ‘kill house’, is a secure training structure specifically crafted for military and law enforcement personnel to conduct live-fire training in close quarters.
These structures are built with ballistic-rated, armoured walls and adaptable layouts to mimic various scenarios involving room-clearing, tactical entry, and hostage-rescue missions.
Constructed from materials like concrete, reinforced plywood, and ballistic rubber, the design ensures that fired rounds are contained safely without ricochet.
It features hallways, windows, doors, staircases, and sometimes furniture to accurately represent real-life settings. The walls and rooms can be reconfigured to create new training scenarios.
Among the features of the ‘Shoot House’ are live-fire targets that may be moving or pop-up, explosive or mechanical breaching doors, and the ability to deploy flashbangs. Additionally, integrated video cameras and catwalks enable trainers to assess performance for After Action Reviews (AAR).
Teams will engage in practice sessions for room interventions, hallway clearings, and team coordination, with live-fire drills simulating realistic shooting situations in confined environments.
The CRPF operates in Jammu and Kashmir to conduct anti-terrorism operations and uphold law and order in close collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Furthermore, it provides security support for central investigation agencies like the NIA, CBI, and ED during their operations in the region.
Additionally, the CRPF ensures the security of VIP routes and those used by military convoys and other security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
