Patna, July 1 (NationPress) Cyber fraudsters in Bihar are continuously evolving their tactics to deceive unsuspecting individuals. The latest incident has unveiled a network of cyber criminals impersonating as ‘call boys’ to execute fraudulent schemes.
The authorities have apprehended three suspects from the Nalanda district who were conducting this scam from a rented residence in Patna.
The suspects had placed online advertisements concerning the Kerala lottery, Vashikaran Baba, and Call Boy services, along with their contact numbers.
Upon receiving inquiries from potential victims, they enticed them with fabricated promises and subsequently swindled them.
The Patna Police stated that the trio was part of a well-organized cyber fraud syndicate.
“As part of the ongoing crackdown on cyber criminals, a dedicated police team conducted a raid on the second floor of a property owned by Babita Devi at Sorangpur Devi Sthan Road under the jurisdiction of the Ramakrishna Nagar police station in the Phulwarisharif block,” disclosed a senior officer from the Cyber Cell of Patna.
During the operation, Patna Police arrested three cyber culprits and seized various items including 13 mobile devices, 2 laptops, 15 ATM cards, and ₹22,700 in cash from their possession.
The individuals have been identified as Kundan Kumar (23), son of Saryu Prasad, residing in Devisarai, Deepnagar, Nalanda; Sameer Kumar (20), son of Shankar Pandey, from Badi Dhoshi, Hilsa, Nalanda; and Abhiraj Kumar (20), son of Akhilesh Chauhan, a resident of Kewal Bigha, Manpur, Nalanda.
A formal case has been registered under the Patna Cyber Police Station, and the arrested suspects have been remanded to judicial custody after their appearance in the district court on Tuesday.
Patna Police is conducting further investigations to uncover additional gang members and financial networks.
Cybercriminals remain active in districts such as Nalanda, Nawada, and Gaya in Bihar, with numerous gangs operating out of these regions.
A significant number of these gangs are following the modus operandi similar to Jharkhand’s infamous ‘Jamtara’ module to swindle the public.
