Ranchi, Sep 11 (NationPress) Authorities have disclosed that Danish Ashhar, a suspected ISIS operative apprehended on September 10 during a coordinated operation by the Delhi Police's Special Cell and the Jharkhand ATS, was scheming to execute extensive terror attacks in Ranchi under the guidance of his Pakistani handlers.
As per officials, Ashhar, also referred to as the “Ghazwa Leader” and identified by the code name “CEO” within the ISIS framework, maintained direct communication with operatives based in Pakistan.
Officials indicated that he was actively promoting the concept of a “Caliphate in India” and had enlisted young individuals from multiple states into the terrorist module, assigning them particular responsibilities.
The Special Cell and Jharkhand ATS confirmed that Ashhar had been monitored for approximately six months. Following intelligence reports, synchronized raids were executed in Ranchi, Delhi, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Telangana, and Karnataka, leading to the detention of five individuals associated with the module.
During the search of Ashhar's accommodation at Tabarak Lodge in Ranchi, investigators seized chemicals and apparatus utilized for constructing IEDs, such as copper sheets, hydrochloric and nitric acid, sulfur powder, sodium bicarbonate, ball bearings, an electronic scale, a pH meter, and laboratory beakers. Officials stated that Ashhar was in the process of preparing explosives.
Hailing from Petarwar in the Bokaro district, Ashhar checked into the lodge using his Aadhaar card, which identified his father as Majrul Hasan.
Community members noted that he lived a secluded life, refraining from socializing. His roommate, a student, was oblivious to Ashhar's connections with ISIS, as members are instructed to conceal their identities and activities from everyone, including family.
This incident marks a recurring emergence of ISIS-affiliated networks in Ranchi. Previously, suspected operatives, including Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed, a radiologist, were arrested in the Chanho area of the city.
Investigations into those incidents hinted that ISIS aimed to establish a training facility in Jharkhand.
Authorities are continuing their inquiry to uncover more details about his operations.
