Discovery of Al Qaeda Training Camp Plot in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Jan 12 (NationPress) The police forces of Delhi and Jharkhand have exposed a scheme to create a training camp for the terrorist organization known as Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) on Nakata Hill, which is located at the border between Ranchi and Latehar districts in Jharkhand.

This significant revelation arose during the questioning of AQIS operatives who were detained in a collaborative operation executed by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police and the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Jharkhand Police two days prior.

Shahbaz Ansari, a principal operative apprehended recently from the Senha police station area of Lohardaga, provided vital insights into AQIS's operations in Jharkhand during the interrogation.

The individual orchestrating the AQIS initiatives in the area was Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed, a radiologist at a private healthcare facility in Ranchi. Dr. Ahmed, who was captured by the Delhi Police Special Cell in August, had established a terror module referred to as the “Ranchi Radical Group” (RRG) aimed at recruiting and training individuals for extremist objectives.

The raid conducted in August of last year also brought to light AQIS's ambitions to broaden its influence across various Indian states, including Jharkhand.

Ansari disclosed that the module primarily focused on less-educated and working-class individuals, who were indoctrinated into joining AQIS. He also named several other suspects, prompting the ATS to intensify intelligence-gathering efforts regarding these individuals.

To facilitate the indoctrination process, AQIS distributed numerous propaganda materials and delivered speeches. Four individuals from Jharkhand were dispatched to Rajasthan for training in weapon handling and attack planning. Upon their return, a plan was devised to establish a training camp under their supervision in Ranchi.

In relation to this investigation, several arrests have been executed, including Dr. Ahmed (Ranchi), Faizan Ahmed (Hazaribagh), Mohd Modavir, Mohd Rizwan, Mufti Rahmatullah Majhiri, Matiur Rahman, Iltaf Ansari, and Enamul Ansari.

These arrests were made within the jurisdiction of the Chanho police station in Ranchi.

Ongoing investigations are aimed at dismantling this terror network and averting further activities in the region.

AQIS operates as a regional faction of Al Qaeda, active across Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Myanmar, and Bangladesh. This group has been implicated in numerous terrorist operations and conspiracies, posing a grave threat to regional stability and security.

Authorities are amplifying their efforts to dismantle AQIS networks and thwart additional attempts to radicalize susceptible individuals.
