Ranchi, Sep 10 (NationPress) - A suspected operative with alleged ties to ISIS, known as Ashar Danish, was apprehended by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell and the Jharkhand Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Wednesday in the Lower Bazaar area of Ranchi, as per official reports.
Danish, hailing from Petarwar in Bokaro district, had been under surveillance by security agencies for an extended period.
Following intelligence reports, the coordinated team raided Tabarak Lodge in Islamnagar, where he was hiding.
During this operation, authorities seized weapons, chemicals believed to be intended for explosive manufacturing, and multiple electronic devices, such as laptops and mobile phones.
These items are now being forwarded for forensic and technical analysis to uncover potential terror connections and digital traces.
Initial investigations indicate that Danish was in the midst of orchestrating a significant plot. His activities have been meticulously tracked in relation to an existing case against him in Delhi.
Post-arrest, the Delhi Police plans to request his remand for further questioning in the national capital.
The operation extended beyond Ranchi. The joint task force also conducted searches in Palamu district of Jharkhand, leading to the detention of another suspect for interrogation.
This arrest is part of a series of prior collaborative operations in Jharkhand.
Earlier in 2023, the Delhi Police Special Cell and Jharkhand ATS executed raids in 16 locations across Ranchi, Hazaribagh, and Lohardaga, resulting in the capture of nine suspects, including a radiologist, Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed, from a medical facility in Ranchi.
Officials suspect that this latest operation underscores the attempts by terror organizations to establish Jharkhand as a refuge.
The ATS and Delhi Police are now concentrating on Danish’s network, his potential facilitators, and possible affiliations with previously detained individuals.
Reports suggest that questioning Danish could yield vital insights into sleeper cells and the broader terror framework operating within the area.
