Bengaluru, Dec 8 (NationPress) - Jailed superstar Darshan is currently under scrutiny for allegedly inflicting mental and physical distress upon his co-accused in the fan murder case while they are incarcerated together at the Bengaluru Central Prison, sources disclosed on Monday.
Authorities report that Darshan's demeanor has noticeably changed during his time in prison, particularly after his privileges were revoked. It is claimed that Darshan has been kicking his co-accused while they are asleep and has been disrespectful in his interactions with them.
Two of Darshan's associates, Jagadish and Anukumar, are reportedly unable to endure the alleged mistreatment and have requested a transfer to Chitradurga prison.
Furthermore, tensions have arisen between Darshan and the co-accused concerning the selection of legal representatives. Recently, co-accused Jagadish, also known as Jagga, had a confrontation with Darshan.
Sources indicate that Darshan has exhibited signs of agitation following stricter regulations implemented under the supervision of IAS officer Anshu Kumar, who has recently assumed the role of Chief Superintendent of the prison.
As a consequence, Darshan is now required to stand in line for meals and is also obligated to maintain cleanliness in the toilet facilities.
In response to the situation, prison authorities have heightened security measures in the barracks where Darshan and his associates reside, including the installation of CCTV cameras and the establishment of barricades.
Darshan, along with Pavithra Gowda and 15 others, was detained on June 11, 2024, facing allegations of kidnapping and brutally murdering Renukaswamy, a fan from Chitradurga.
Renukaswamy was purportedly upset after sending offensive messages to Pavithra Gowda, given that Darshan continued a relationship with her despite his marriage.
Following the emergence of images depicting his alleged preferential treatment at Bengaluru Central Prison, Darshan was relocated to Ballari Prison.
He currently contends with three FIRs related to the incident.
A comprehensive 3,991-page chargesheet was presented to the court on September 4, 2024, accompanied by an additional chargesheet.
After serving 131 days behind bars, Darshan was released on October 30, 2024. However, following an appeal from the Karnataka Police, the Supreme Court revoked his bail, resulting in the re-arrest of Darshan, his partner Pavithra Gowda, and others.
A local court in Karnataka has set charges against Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others in relation to this high-profile fan murder case. All accused have denied the charges.
Darshan faces murder charges under IPC Section 302 and is also charged under sections 355, 120-B for criminal conspiracy, 204 for evidence tampering, and 359 for kidnapping.
Additionally, he is charged under sections 143, 147, 148, and 149 for illegal assembly and other offenses.
