Bengaluru, May 28 (NationPress) Kannada superstar Darshan has submitted a petition to the trial court in Bengaluru on Wednesday, requesting permission for foreign travel. Currently, Darshan is on conditional bail related to the alleged murder of his fan, involving him, his partner, and several associates.
The petition was filed at the City Civil and Sessions court under Section 439 (1) (b) of the CrPC.
In his request, Darshan seeks approval to travel to Dubai and Europe from June 1 to June 25.
The Special Public Prosecutor opposed this petition, expressing concerns over Darshan's return if he leaves the country.
A decision from the court regarding this petition is anticipated by the end of the day.
After securing bail, sources indicate that Darshan is occupied with the filming of his upcoming project, 'Devil'.
Previously, the court had placed restrictions on his movements outside Bengaluru.
Having already obtained court consent to leave Bengaluru, he is now looking to expand his travels.
Darshan, alongside his partner Pavithra and 15 others, was arrested on June 11, 2024, on accusations of kidnapping and the gruesome murder of Renukaswamy, a fan from Chitradurga.
It was reported that Renukaswamy sent offensive messages to Pavithra, which triggered a violent reaction, as he was displeased with Darshan's ongoing relationship with her despite his marriage.
Insiders revealed that Pavithra and Darshan's wife, Vijayalakshmi, were in a competition regarding jewelry and luxury vehicles.
Pavithra allegedly pressured Darshan to appear publicly with her after he had been seen with his wife.
Public disputes between Pavithra and Vijayalakshmi on social media have split Darshan's fan community into factions.
Renukaswamy, who supported Vijayalakshmi, criticized Pavithra, which ultimately led to his tragic death, as per police investigations.
The Karnataka Police have contested the bail granted to Darshan and the others in the Supreme Court.
On January 24, the apex court issued notices to Darshan, Pavithra, and five others regarding the state government's appeal.
While granting bail, the court mandated that Darshan and the other defendants must appear before it monthly.
Darshan, the second accused in the fan murder case, generated controversy when he attended a movie premiere, missing court proceedings due to health claims.
Moreover, he was spotted watching a film with actor Chikkanna, a witness in the case, violating legal protocols.
According to the law, persons on bail are prohibited from meeting witnesses in their cases.
On April 8, a Bengaluru court expressed serious concerns over Darshan's absence, citing back pain.
The Civil and Sessions Judge emphasized that Darshan must attend all future hearings without exception.
Furthermore, the Karnataka Police submitted an additional charge sheet against Darshan and other defendants concerning the high-profile fan murder case on May 21.
