Chandigarh, April 12 (NationPress) Punjab's Chief Minister, Bhagwant Singh Mann, announced on Sunday that daughters from humble backgrounds have remarkably achieved dominance in the Punjab School Education Board’s (PSEB) Class VIII merit list, clinching 19 out of the top 20 positions.
While honoring these outstanding students at his residence, CM Mann stated that all top 20 achievers will receive direct admission to the Schools of Eminence without the need for an entrance examination.
The Chief Minister rewarded the top three students with cash prizes of Rs 50,000 each, encouraging them to remain humble, work diligently, and select appropriate role models.
He emphasized that the confidence, discipline, and determination exhibited by these students underscore the significant impact of continuous investment in education. The government is dedicated to empowering every child's dreams through modern educational institutions.
Sharing insights from the event, CM Mann noted on X: “Today in Chandigarh, we celebrated the meritorious students who excelled in the Punjab School Education Board's Class VIII results across the state. We also extended heartfelt congratulations to their parents and teachers.”
He highlighted that the top position was secured by the talented daughter of a munim working at a brick kiln, while the second and third positions were attained by the daughters of a tiles shop owner and a government primary school teacher, respectively.
“These impressive results showcase how children from ordinary families are setting new standards in education. Witnessing the self-confidence, dedication, and hard work of these students fills us with immense pride and joy,” he remarked.
During the interaction with the toppers, CM Mann pointed out that for the first time, girls have dominated the merit list, securing 19 of the top 20 positions, which serves as a powerful testament to their excellence and resolve.
“These students will be admitted to Class IX in the Schools of Eminence without an entrance exam. For the first time, girls have achieved 19 out of the top 20 ranks, with only one boy at the 20th position. This remarkable achievement reinforces that girls are truly second to none in any field,” he concluded.
