Hyderabad, Oct 25 (NationPress) A Deputy Commissioner of Police in Hyderabad discharged his weapon, leading to the injury of a mobile phone thief who was attempting to escape after allegedly attacking the police with a knife.
The event unfolded in broad daylight in the Chaderghat neighborhood around 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Located near Victory Playground on the banks of the Musi River, the incident caused a wave of panic among locals in the bustling area.
While returning to his office after a meeting at the Police Commissioner’s Office, Sai Chaitanya, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East), observed a known criminal and a property offender engaged in a mobile phone theft. The DCP attempted to apprehend the suspects, accompanied by his gunman.
During the confrontation, one of the accused attempted to assault the gunman with a knife. Following reports from Police Commissioner C. V. Sajjanar, who visited the scene, the DCP fired two rounds upon witnessing the constable being attacked, resulting in one of the offenders being injured.
The suspect suffered injuries to his hand and abdomen and was promptly transported to a private medical facility, while the other individual managed to flee the scene.
