New Delhi, July 8 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has recently given her approval for the Integrated District Project Fund and District Project Fund initiatives, which allocate a total of Rs 53 crore for minor projects throughout the districts.
This decision was made during a Cabinet meeting led by CM Gupta, with the primary goal of providing financial backing for development initiatives that prioritize infrastructure, community services, and social welfare.
“These funds will facilitate the swift execution of essential development projects in all government districts, eliminating bureaucratic obstacles,” an official statement highlighted.
The Chief Minister articulated that this initiative aligns with the good governance principle of “Perform, Reform and Transform.”
She stressed the administration's intention to decentralize the processes, enabling quicker completion of development projects at every tier.
The Cabinet meeting was attended by all Cabinet Ministers, along with the Chief Secretary and senior officials.
Describing the schemes, the Chief Minister noted that they will promote grassroots development across Delhi, ensuring that basic services are delivered to citizens efficiently.
The funds will cater to a diverse array of projects, including roads, schools, dispensaries, and community centers. The scheme is designed to recognize local requirements, plan appropriate projects, and allocate resources for their implementation at the ground level, she stated.
The Chief Minister further explained that the initiative aims to tackle pressing, small-scale development needs in all 11 administrative districts of Delhi.
Execution of these projects will involve departments such as PWD, Irrigation and Flood Control, and MCD, among others, ensuring benefits for all residents in the respective regions.
Types of infrastructure projects under this initiative will include minor repair tasks related to roads, bridges, and other public facilities like district revenue offices.
Repairs for community centers, panchayat houses, and other public amenities will also be executed under the scheme.
Funding will also cover construction and repairs in schools and dispensaries, maintenance of cow shelters, street lights, CCTV cameras, drains, pond rejuvenation, and projects linked to education and health.
The Chief Minister clarified that the scheme is fully financed by the Delhi Government, which has set aside Rs 53 crore in total. “Of this amount, Rs 20 crore is allocated for the Integrated District Project Fund and Rs 33 crore for the District Project Fund. Consequently, each district will receive Rs 3 crore for local projects,” she mentioned.
The scheme will be governed by a Project Approval Committee (PAC).
The District Magistrate (DM) will act as the Chairperson, with the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) serving as the Member Secretary. Further members will include the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Headquarters), the Block Development Officer (BDO), the senior-most Accounts Officer, and a representative from the beneficiary department.
The Chief Minister stressed that this model will ensure complete transparency and expedited execution of essential small projects.
She clarified that the primary aim is to empower District Magistrates to conduct development works independently, without requiring additional approvals, thus speeding up local governance.
