New Delhi, Sep 27 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, expressed her discontent on Saturday towards the past administrations led by the AAP and Congress for their neglect of the armed forces’ requirements, specifically halting the initiative to construct a foot over bridge (FoB) within the cantonment area.
During the ceremony for laying the foundation stone of the FoB at the Rajputana Rifles Regimental Centre in Delhi Cantonment, CM Gupta raised concerns about the inappropriate priorities set by former governments.
“Those who previously held power failed to construct this long-overdue FoB due to their tendency to question the accomplishments of our armed forces,” she remarked, targeting leaders from AAP and Congress who had expressed skepticism regarding the results of Operation Sindoor and the Balakot airstrike.
“The previous administrations lacked a connection to our nation and the armed forces, focusing instead on serving foreign interests that oppose our country,” she stated.
“In my opinion, those who doubt the achievements of the armed forces do not deserve to hold any governmental position,” she added, emphasizing that the construction of this FoB allows her government to fulfill its duty towards the armed forces.
She also criticized the Congress and AAP governments for overlooking the necessity of a new power line at the forces’ camp in Chhawla.
CM Gupta praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his initiative to celebrate Diwali with the armed forces personnel.
She expressed great satisfaction that the FoB project is being launched during the 15-day Sewa Pakhwada, which honors PM Modi’s birthday.
Previously, PWD Minister Parvesh Verma noted, "For nearly three decades, Army personnel have requested a foot overbridge here. The Congress government was in office for 15 years and did nothing.”
“Following that, the AAP took power. Despite their capacity to invest hundreds of crores in other initiatives, they could not allocate even ₹1.5 crore for this foot overbridge in 27 years. This is quite astonishing. However, as soon as the issue was raised, CM Rekha Gupta’s Delhi government acted swiftly, releasing funds and issuing the tender,” he remarked.
