New Delhi, March 13 (NationPress) – On Friday, the Delhi Police apprehended a notorious criminal with an extensive record of approximately 15 criminal cases. They recovered a stolen scooty, a mobile device, and an illegal knife from his possession, according to officials.
The West District Police identified the suspect as Sagar alias Nepali, aged 29, son of Gokul and a resident of Naraina Village, Delhi.
This arrest was part of a dedicated initiative aimed at reducing incidents of motor vehicle theft and street-related crimes in the region.
On March 11, while patrolling near Shaheed Major Rajeev Lal Marg outside Khatu Shyam Stadium, Constable Manish spotted an individual riding a grey Honda Activa scooty approaching from the Jail Road direction. Upon noticing the police, the rider attempted to evade capture. Sensing something amiss, Constable Manish pursued the individual and successfully detained him.
Upon initial questioning, the suspect revealed his name as Sagar alias Nepali. A search uncovered an illegal buttondar knife hidden in the left pocket of his jeans and a mobile phone located in the right pocket of his pants.
The scooty, registered under number DL-xxx-7531 (grey Honda Activa), was verified through the ZIPNET database and was confirmed as stolen in a case reported at Subhash Place Police Station.
The recovered mobile device, identified as a black Realme handset, was also verified and found to be stolen in a case logged at Hari Nagar Police Station.
Upon receiving the report, Head Constable Sombir arrived at the scene, and the necessary legal procedures were undertaken. A case has since been registered under Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act at Police Station Hari Nagar.
During further questioning, the suspect admitted he was en route to the junk market in Mayapuri to sell both the stolen scooty and mobile phone.
The operation was executed by a team that included SI Anup Rana, in charge of PP Hari Nagar, HC Sombir, and Ct. Manish, under the leadership of Inspector Ashu Girotra, SHO Hari Nagar, and supervised by ACP Rajouri Garden, Niraj Tokas.
