Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 13 (NationPress) The Delhi Police swiftly apprehended three individuals involved in a robbery, including a child in conflict with the law (CCL), just moments after the crime occurred. They successfully retrieved the stolen goods and the scooty used during the incident.
The arrested suspects have been named as Nitesh (24) and Bipin (22), along with a juvenile, all hailing from Ambedkar Basti in Sector-1, R.K. Puram, Delhi. The police recovered various items from the robbery, including a stolen mobile phone, a purse containing cash and vital documents, and the scooty that facilitated the crime.
According to the vigilant night patrol officers from the R.K. Puram Police Station, the robbery transpired on March 11 at approximately 3:30 a.m. near Vivekanand Marg. The victim, identified as M. Singh from Munirka Village, was making his way home on foot after his shift at a restaurant in Kirti Nagar, having just passed by the Hyatt Hotel in Bhikaji Cama Place.
Upon reaching a location near a dustbin at the red light in Sector-1, R.K. Puram, Singh was approached by three young men on a light blue scooty, who addressed him as “Uncle Ji”. Two of them dismounted, physically restrained him, while the third struck him. They proceeded to struggle with him, forcibly taking his mobile phone and a purse that contained cash, an Aadhaar Card, a Voter ID Card, and ATM cards. During the confrontation, Singh's pants pocket was ripped as he resisted.
Realizing the urgency of the situation, Singh raised an alarm as a police patrol vehicle approached from the Sector-1 red light. He informed the officers in the vehicle — Head Constable Shashi Kapoor Meena and Constable Parveen Yadav — about the robbery.
In a display of quick thinking and responsiveness, the police personnel, accompanied by Singh, pursued the suspects. Upon noticing the police vehicle, the suspects attempted to flee towards Munirka Flyover but abruptly altered their route near a T-point, trying to escape back into Sector-1.
The police team maintained the chase and successfully intercepted the scooty near a taxi stand, approximately 50-60 meters ahead of the Sector-1 crossing. In their attempt to escape, the suspects crashed, causing all three to tumble onto the road, sustaining injuries. The police team promptly subdued and arrested them on the scene.
During the interrogation, the suspects were confirmed as Nitesh, Bipin, and the juvenile, all from Ambedkar Basti, Sector-1, R.K. Puram.
Following this, a case was registered under FIR No. 41/2026 at the R.K. Puram Police Station under Sections 309(4), 317(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The stolen items were recovered and documented in accordance with legal protocols, including the scooty utilized in the robbery.
