New Delhi, Sep 23 (NationPress) In a remarkable display of prompt action and efficient policing, the Delhi Police have resolved a robbery case in less than 12 hours, leading to the arrest of two individuals, both students from Delhi University.
The officers from Police Station Kalindi Kunj detained the suspects and successfully retrieved the stolen mobile phone as well as the weapon used in the crime, which was a steel kada.
As outlined in a press statement from the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the South-East District, the arrested individuals are identified as Sandeep Singh (21) and Saurabh Singh (19), both hailing from Jaitpur, Delhi. Sandeep is currently in his third year of a BA Programme, while Saurabh is a second-year B.Com student at DU's School of Open Learning. Notably, neither has any previous criminal history.
The robbery took place on September 21 around 7 p.m., when the victim, Rohit (33), was riding home on his motorcycle. He inadvertently made contact with a white car, prompting the occupants of the vehicle, later identified as the assailants, to exit and demand Rs 5,000 for supposed damages.
“When the victim declined to pay, they turned aggressive. One struck him on the head with a steel kada and snatched his mobile phone, while the other held him back,” the police report detailed.
An FIR (No. 609/2025) was immediately filed, and a specialized team led by SI Satyam Bhardwaj, SI Parveen, HC Bharat, and Ct Altaf, under the guidance of SHO/Kalindi Kunj, commenced the investigation.
Using local intelligence and reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity, the team successfully identified and apprehended the suspects within hours, recovering the stolen mobile device and the steel kada.
Upon questioning, the duo insisted that their actions were impulsive and that they had no prior intention of committing robbery or inflicting harm.
The DCP for South-East commended the rapid response and coordinated efforts of the Kalindi Kunj police team, reinforcing the department's dedication to ensuring public safety and delivering swift justice.
