Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 30 (NationPress) The Delhi Police apprehended three individuals on Friday, successfully resolving two robbery attempts along with three additional criminal cases, as confirmed by officials. These arrests followed a comprehensive investigation that included analyzing more than 100 CCTV cameras positioned in the vicinity of the crime locations.
As reported by the South West District Police, the suspects have been identified as Sher Singh, a resident of Dwarkapuri, Sudama Nagar in Indore, Madhya Pradesh; Harmendra, a resident of Kacchi Basti, Badwas in Udaipur, Rajasthan; and Manjeet, aged 39, also from Kachchi Basti, Udaipur, Rajasthan. Following their arrests, the police seized a stolen motorcycle, cash totaling Rs 28,150, stolen jewelry, and a knife believed to be used in the crimes.
The incidents came to light on January 26 at approximately 8:14 AM when a PCR call was placed to the Sarojini Nagar Police Station regarding a robbery attempt by unidentified individuals near Anant Ram Dairy in Sector-13, R.K. Puram. The suspects reportedly brandished a knife, instilling fear in the victim before fleeing the scene. An FIR was registered under No. 58/2026 under Sections 312/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Given the gravity of the situation, a specialized police team was assembled, led by Inspector Atul Tyagi, SHO Sarojini Nagar, and overseen by the ACP of Safdarjung Enclave. The team included Sub Inspector Deepak Loyal, along with Head Constables Pankaj, Amarjeet, Pushpender, Raghuveer, Ajeet, and Mainpal, as well as Constables Bharat Solanki and Mahesh. The team conducted thorough fieldwork, collected local intelligence, performed technical verification, and meticulously examined CCTV footage from over 100 cameras, which ultimately led to the identification and arrest of the three suspects.
During interrogation, suspect Manjeet revealed that he is employed as a key maker, a trade his family has practiced for nearly two decades. He mentioned that he frequently visits Delhi to pay his respects at various Gurudwaras. On January 24, 2026, he traveled to Delhi along with his brother-in-law, Sher Singh, and associate Harmendra. The trio visited Gurudwara Bangla Sahib and another Gurudwara in Chandni Chowk, where they remained for some time.
The police reported that the suspects are addicted to intoxicants and alcohol, spending about Rs 7,000 to Rs 8,000 daily. Facing financial difficulties, they allegedly plotted to commit robberies. On the evening of January 25, they purportedly stole a motorcycle in the vicinity of Shakarpur Police Station and committed house thefts in Laxmi Nagar, absconding with jewelry.
On the morning of January 26, they first attempted to rob a woman near Ambedkar Park in South Campus but fled when she raised an alarm. Shortly thereafter, they attempted another robbery near the ARD Complex but escaped when the victim resisted. Due to heavy police presence on Republic Day, they abandoned further plans and eventually moved towards Netaji Nagar and Sarojini Nagar, where they were ultimately apprehended.
According to police records, Sher Singh has been linked to three criminal cases, Manjeet to six, and Harmendra to two. With their arrests, law enforcement has successfully resolved a total of five cases across Sarojini Nagar, South Campus, Laxmi Nagar, and Shakarpur police stations. Ongoing investigations are currently in progress.
