New Delhi, Dec 11 (NationPress) The Delhi Police successfully apprehended three snatchers on Thursday after a thorough examination of over 300 CCTV cameras.
The Anti-Snatching Cell of the South-West District reported that the suspects, identified as Paras alias Bharat (34) from Gandhi Market, Sagarpur, Pankaj alias Kake (38) from Ram Mandir, Jhanda Chowk, New Ashok Nagar, and Vinod Ghosh (35) also from Sagarpur, were arrested. During the operation, a snatched gold chain and the motorcycle used in the theft were recovered.
The investigation was sparked by a gold chain snatching incident that took place on December 2 within the Sagarpur Police Station jurisdiction. A case was registered (FIR No. 575/25) under relevant sections of the law, leading to an active investigation.
Inspector Hari Singh led a dedicated team within the Anti-Snatching Cell (SWD), which included Sub Inspector Kamal Kant and several constables. Under the supervision of ACP Vijay Pal Tomar, the team diligently scrutinized more than 300 CCTV recordings across the South-West and West Districts. The suspects were seen using a Yamaha FZ motorcycle and employing various tactics to avoid capture, such as making multiple loops in an area before the crime and changing outfits post-incident.
Through intelligence gathering and tips from informants, all three suspects were pinpointed and captured. The stolen gold chain and the motorcycle were retrieved.
Upon questioning, the suspects admitted they engaged in gold chain snatching for quick financial gain. They disclosed that they sold the stolen gold to various contacts in Delhi and were en route to sell the stolen items when arrested. They also confirmed that they solely used a Yamaha FZ motorcycle for these criminal activities.
