These wards are situated within significant Assembly constituencies such as Mundka, Wazirpur, Matiala, Najafgarh, Rajender Nagar, Deoli, and Patparganj.
The Commission has confirmed that the Assembly Electoral Rolls, updated with a qualifying date of January 1, 2025, will be utilized for these bye-elections, adhering to Section 7(E) of the Municipal Corporation Act, 1957.
“All supplements prepared up until the last date for filing nominations for these bye-elections will also be included in the electoral rolls,” the Delhi Election Commission stated in its press release.
Returning Officers for all 12 wards have been informed and tasked with finalizing polling stations by October 13, 2025.
Public notices are already out, inviting objections and suggestions from the community.
To guarantee smooth polling, officials from the Government of NCT Delhi and MCD have been assigned as District Election Officers, ROs, AROs, and General Observers. Expenditure Observers will also be appointed to oversee campaign spending.
The Commission has introduced enhanced voter support initiatives, including wheelchair bookings and pick-and-drop services for senior citizens over 85 years and individuals with disabilities through the “Nigam Chunav Delhi” mobile application.
A new Single Window Permission Portal is also being launched to facilitate campaign permissions and efficiently manage complaints.
“A meeting was held today with the Commissioner of Police, Delhi to review security and law and order aspects for the seamless conduct of the bye-elections. The Commission will soon meet with the Chief Secretary, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, to ensure all arrangements are in place for a timely election,” it stated.
The election timeline will be announced after considering factors such as festivals, examinations, logistical challenges, and security assessments to ensure a peaceful and organized electoral process.
