Prayagraj, Jan 5 (NationPress) On the third day of the ongoing Magh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, devotees have been flocking to the Sangam ghats since the early hours to partake in a holy dip at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.
The 44-day-long Magh Mela commenced on January 3 at the Sangam with the sacred bathing ritual on Paush Purnima.
IANS spoke to several devotees who shared their spiritual fervor and gratitude for the arrangements made by the authorities.
A devotee from Hyderabad mentioned, "We traveled here from Hyderabad. Previously, we attended the Mahakumbh, and now we seek a sacred dip during the Magh Mela. After our bath, we will visit the Kashi Vishwanath temple tonight. Tomorrow, we plan to head to Ayodhya for darshan at the Ram Mandir before returning to Hyderabad. The Yogi government has made commendable arrangements."
Another devotee emphasized the unique spiritual ambiance of the event, stating, "The Magh Mela possesses an enchanting allure, and we genuinely relish our time here. The administration's arrangements were satisfactory last year, and they have upheld that standard this year as well."
Commending the crowd management and logistical setups, a third devotee remarked, "The government has efficiently managed the attendees. The traffic and vehicle arrangements are praiseworthy. I want to encourage everyone to visit; there are no inconveniences, and all arrangements are superb."
Extensive security measures have been implemented throughout the Mela area to guarantee the safety and comfort of pilgrims.
The administration has undertaken extensive preparations, with the Mela spanning approximately 800 hectares and divided into seven sectors.
Parking has been organized at 42 designated locations to accommodate the significant influx of vehicles.
The entire Mela area is monitored by 17 police stations, 42 police outposts, and a dedicated police control room. Furthermore, around 400 CCTV cameras have been deployed to oversee activities.
Prayagraj District Magistrate Manish Verma stated that officials are exercising constant vigilance to ensure the seamless progression of the event.
To facilitate transportation, approximately 3,800 buses from the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation have been mobilized.
There will be six major bathing occasions during the Magh Mela, culminating with the sacred bath on Mahashivratri.
Uttar Pradesh's Minister for Culture and Tourism, Jaiveer Singh, remarked that the Magh Mela is not merely a religious gathering but a vibrant representation of Indian culture and ethos.
This year's important bathing dates include Makar Sankranti on January 14, Mauni Amavasya on January 18, Basant Panchami on January 23, Maghi Purnima on February 1, and Mahashivratri on February 15.
