The district administration implemented extensive measures for crowd management, sanitation, drinking water, and medical services, while traffic diversions were established across the city to facilitate smooth transit.
Additional Police Commissioner Ajay Pal Sharma confirmed that thorough security protocols were in place.
“Police personnel are stationed at all significant ghats and entry points. Crowd movement is continuously monitored via CCTV cameras and drones,” he stated, adding that the atmosphere remained tranquil with no reported incidents until this report was filed.
Maghi Purnima also witnessed large gatherings at other prominent pilgrimage sites. In Ayodhya, devotees submerged themselves in the Saryu River, with many expressing gratitude for the arrangements made by the authorities.
“We have received all facilities and thank the government for it,” remarked a devotee.
In Haridwar, Uttarakhand, thousands congregated at Har Ki Pauri to immerse in the Ganga, while in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, devotees flocked to several ghats, with priests declaring Maghi Purnima as one of the most auspicious bathing days of the year.
Similar scenes unfolded in Bhagalpur, Bihar, where devotees took dips in the Ganga at Ajgaibinath Dham, and in Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh, where throngs gathered at Sethani Ghat on the Narmada River. In Raebareli, hundreds braved the biting cold to dip at Dalmau Ganga Ghat.
In Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, a massive crowd assembled at the Ganga ghats, with officials reporting that around one lakh devotees had bathed by 10 a.m.
Meanwhile, the Railways announced extensive arrangements in Prayagraj for Maghi Purnima, including special trains, extra ticket counters, and a 24-hour mela control room to manage passenger flow on this significant bathing day of the Magh Mela.
