Bhopal, Nov 25 (NationPress) Congress Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh has taken aim at Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, asserting that he has neglected the rights of Panchayat representatives in Madhya Pradesh.
In a bold move, Singh has issued a challenge for an open debate on Panchayat issues to both Chief Minister Yadav and Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel. He invited them to bring along representatives from their own party for this discussion.
Singh made these remarks during a workshop for Panchayat representatives currently being held at Minto Hall in Bhopal, which began on Monday and will wrap up on Wednesday.
“After 22 years, the BJP government has finally acknowledged Panchayat representatives and touted their significance in governance. However, Chief Minister Yadav has once again disappointed them with empty promises. What Panchayat representatives want are their constitutional rights, not futile assurances,” Singh expressed.
In a direct attack on CM Yadav, Singh noted that he had greater expectations from Patel, given his rural roots, yet found him equally incapable of safeguarding the power of Panchayat representatives like Yadav and other BJP members.
“Although Prahalad Singh Patel possesses more experience in the Panchayati Raj system than CM Yadav, he has also faltered in defending the authority of Panchayat representatives. The entire structure of the Panchayat in Madhya Pradesh has deteriorated under the BJP administration,” Singh alleged.
It is worth noting that during the opening of the workshop for Panchayat representatives, CM Yadav highlighted the importance of administrative reforms.
He mentioned that the suggestions from Panchayat representatives regarding schools would be prioritized.
In response, Singh remarked, “The representatives of Janapad Panchayats already hold the power to inspect schools, yet they lack decision-making authority. So what new measure has CM Yadav introduced to empower them?”
