Bhopal, Nov 11 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's controversial remarks regarding Grampanchayat secretaries (Sachiv) during an event at Bhopal's Jamboori Maidan on Tuesday ignited a significant political uproar in Madhya Pradesh.
The uproar began after a brief clip of Chief Minister Yadav's address to Grampanchayat representatives emerged on social media. In the video, Mohan Yadav could be heard making inappropriate statements.
He stated, "Agar Sachiv (Panchayat secretary) nahi karne dega to hata denge sale ko" (If the Sachiv obstructs, I will remove him), while speaking at the program attended by Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel and other senior officials.
Again, he emphasized, "Sachiv aur Sahayak Sachiv ki kya aukat. Jo Sarpanchon ke kam me roda dalega use hata denge" (What is the worth of Sachiv and Sahayak Sachiv? Those who create obstacles will be dismissed).
During his address, the Chief Minister discussed the authority of the Sarpanch (village head) in the three-tier Panchayati system, asserting, "In the Panchayat system, a Sarpanch holds powers that even MPs and MLAs lack. If the intent is pure, divine support follows".
In response to the situation, Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari remarked, "Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has insulted Grampanchayat secretaries. The Congress party denounces his comments and demands an apology".
At a press briefing in Bhopal on Tuesday evening, Patwari added, "As the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav must uphold the respect associated with his position. If he fails to apologize, the Congress will initiate protests".
However, neither the ruling BJP nor the Chief Minister's office has released a statement regarding this incident.
